Owls Claim Three First-Place Finishes in Boston and Penn Meets

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University's women's indoor track and field team competed in two meets this weekend. First was at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by BU. The other meet was the Widener Indoor Classic located at the Ott Center. Owls took home first place in the 400m, 60m hurdles, and in the 4x400m relay.

  • In the 800m race, Laila Cottom finished with a time of 2:16.27.
  • Rose Tuomisto competed in the 5,000m and came across the line with a time of 17:23.07.
Results | Widener Classic
  • Out of the eight competitors in the 60m finals, Temple had three athletes compete in the race. Lila Ziegler finished in fourth with a time of 7.78. Right behind her in fifth place was Janae Pettaway with a time of 7.82. Zayniah Ali came across the line in seventh with a time of 7.88. 
  • Ziegler finished fourth in the 200m with a new personal record of 25.34. Aly Doyle placed 16th with a time of 26.02 which is also a personal record. Pettaway ended with a time of 26.45 which put her in 25th out of 45 athletes.
  • The Owls had four athletes compete in the 400m and they all placed inside the top-five. Winning the event was freshman Kei-Mahri Hanna with a new personal record of 54.95. In second was Mariah Jameson with a time of 56.30. Third was Grace Hickman after coming across the line in 57.35, which set a new personal record for the sophomore. Rounding out the top-five out of 43 athletes was Chloe Smith with a time of 58.23.
  • Jayla Green competed in the 800m and ended with a time of 2:27.13.
  • Reese Morgan ran the mile in a time of 5:33.46.
  • Freshman Aly Doyle took home first place in the 60m hurdles after setting a new personal record with a time of 8.64. Also competing in the event was Ali, who finished third with a time of 8.75, setting a new personal record for the sophomore.
  • Temple took home first place in the 4x400m relay after Hanna, Jameson, Hickman, and Smith finished with a time of 3:48.50.
  • Kamryn Ohm came in fourth out of 24 athletes in the pole vault after clearing a height of 3.65m (11'-11.75"). Marking a personal record for the freshman. Reece Sullivan finished sixth with a height of 3.50m (11'-5.75"). 
  • In the triple jump, sophomore Deja Scott came in third with a new personal record of 11.69m (38'-4.25"). Reagan Schwartz also competed in this event and finished tenth out of 25 competitors with a distance of 10.69m (35'-1").
Up Next
The Owls will compete in the American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 27. The meet will be held in Birmingham, Ala.
