Owls Head South for the American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University's women's indoor track and field team is set to compete in the American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The event returns to the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. The meet will take place throughout the day on Friday and Saturday. Temple will send 19 athletes to represent the Cherry & White across 11 different events. The meet will air live on ESPN+.

Previewing the Owls
- Competing in the field events will be Emelie Beckman (pole vault), Kamryn Ohm (pole vault), Smilla Ranebro (high jump), Shalisha Robertson (triple jump), Reagan Schwartz (triple jump), Deja Scott (triple jump), Inara Shell (triple jump), and Reece Sullivan (pole vault).
- Beckman is currently tied for the school record in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters. She ranks No. 1 in the American Conference.
- Shell ranks second in program history in the triple jump with a distance of 12.87 meters, placing her No. 3 in the conference.
- Racing in the 60-meter dash will be Janae Pettaway and Lila Ziegler.
- Zayniah Ali and Aly Doyle will compete in the 60-meter hurdles. Doyle ranks No. 17 in the conference with a time of 8.64 seconds. She recently took first place at the Widener Indoor Classic.
- Mariah Jameson, Pettaway, and Ziegler will race in the 200 meters.
- Representing the Owls in the 400 meters will be Kei-Mahri Hanna, Grace Hickman, Jameson, and Chloe Smith. Hanna ranks No. 9 in the conference with a time of 54.95 seconds.
- Rian Johnson will be the lone Temple athlete competing in the mile. The freshman set a personal record in the event last month with a time of 4:56.22.
- Johnson and Rose Tuomisto will compete in the 3,000 meters.
- The Distance Medley Relay team will consist of Laila Cottom, Hanna, Johnson, and Tuomisto.
- The final event will be the 4x400-meter relay, with Cottom, Hanna, Hickman, Jameson, and Smith representing the Owls.
Previewing the Field
- Temple is currently ranked 11th out of 13 schools in the American Conference with a total of 99.44 points. The conference is led by Charlotte (373.01), North Texas (357.00), and Tulane (301.84). Tulane took home first place at last season's championship.
- Four schools from the conference are nationally ranked: East Carolina (34th), Rice (75th), UTSA (91st), and Charlotte (111th).
Up Next
The final event of the indoor season will be the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. The meet will take place Friday, March 13.
