PHILADELPHIA - Temple University men's basketball head coach Adam Fisher announced the hiring of Courtney Eldridge as an assistant coach on Monday.
Eldridge joins the Owls after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Elon. He was named a 2026 Silver Waves Media Rising Star and one of the organization's Top 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistants this year as a member of the Phoenix coaching staff.
"We're very excited to welcome Courtney Eldridge and his family to our Temple family," said Fisher. "Courtney brings an impressive background from his time at Iowa and most recently at Elon. He is an outstanding relationship builder and talent developer. I know he will make a lasting impact on our student-athletes and our program."
In his one season at Elon, Eldridge helped guide the Phoenix to improvements across several offensive categories, increasing their scoring from 73.7 points per game to 78.1, field goal percentage from .442 to .451, and 3-point percentage from .330 to .343.
He previously spent 10 seasons on Fran McCaffery's staff at Iowa, beginning as a video coordinator from 2016-19 before being promoted to director of recruiting and player development from 2019-22 and assistant coach from 2022-25.
During his time in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes won the 2022 Big Ten Tournament and earned five NCAA Tournament berths.
Eldridge helped recruit and coach a first-team All-Big Ten selection in five of eight seasons. Notable players he coached include two-time National Player of the Year and first-team All-American Luka Garza, Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy finalist Keegan Murray, and third-team All-American and Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year finalist Kris Murray.
"It is both an honor and a privilege to join Temple University as an assistant men's basketball coach," said Eldridge. "I look forward to working alongside Coach Fisher and the entire coaching staff as we set the standard for excellence. Basketball is both a passion and a purpose for me and I am committed to using my experience and expertise to develop our student-athletes both on the court and as men of character and purpose."
As a player under McCaffery at UNC Greensboro (UNCG), Eldridge was a two-time first-team All-Southern Conference selection and earned all-tournament honors twice. He is the Spartans' all-time leader in assists and ranks second in program history in steals. He also holds the single-season program record for assists with 182. Eldridge ranks 14th in program history in scoring with 1,329 points and fourth all-time with 395 career free throws. He is one of just five players in program history to have his jersey No. 23 retired and helped lead the Spartans to what was then the program's second NCAA Tournament appearance in 2001.
Following his collegiate career, Eldridge spent 12 seasons playing professionally overseas, including stops in Brazil, Poland, Italy, Belarus, Turkey and the Dominican Republic.
He began his coaching career at East Boston High School and Saint Joseph Prep School in Brighton, Massachusetts.
Eldridge earned his degree in business administration from UNC Greensboro in 2015. He and his wife, Aisha, have four children: Khalil, Dante, Jordan and Aliyah.
