DiSANGRO, DUPREE GARNER TOP HONORS AT BASKETBALL BANQUET

PHILADELPHIA -- John DiSangro, who served the last 19 seasons as Director of Basketball Operations for the Temple men's basketball program, was named the Jim Maloney Most Valuable Person Award while senior All-American forward/center Candice Dupree earned her third straight team Most Valuable Player Award for the Owls' women's team at the University's annual basketball banquet held Friday night, April 7 at the Doubletree Hotel.
Senior All-American guard Mardy Collins received the Tim Claxton Award for loyalty, dedication and attitude to the University and community as well as the team's assist-to-turnover award. Senior Antywane Robinson was presented with the Harry Litwack Award for sportsmanship, dedication, devotion and conduct on and off the court. He also was honored with the Best Foul Shooter Award and Best Three-Point Shooter Award.
Besides Dupree, who also received the team's top rebounder award, the Temple women's awards were highlighted by seniors Khadija Bowens, who received the Henry R. Sklar Award for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, good citizenship and dedication, and Jennifer Owens, who garnered the team's Unsung Hero Award.
