Men finish third overall, while women take eighth
Newark, DE – The Temple men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Blue & Gold Invitation, hosted by the University of Delaware Saturday afternoon. The men's team took third overall, while the women's team finished eighth in a tough field.
On the men's side, junior Mike May led the way for TU, placing eighth in a time of 26:04.90. Following closely behind was sophomore Eddie Penetar, finishing tenth in a time of 26:15.65. Sophomore Travis Mahoney posted the only other top 20 finish, running 26:45.62 for 18th place.
Finishing in the top 50 were senior Adin Mickle (31st, 27:18.91), junior Eric Conklin (34th, 27:32.13), sophomore David Walters (37th, 27:36.46), and junior Clarke Hunt (47th, 28:14.57).
Other notable times were had by sophomore Dan Carreon (55th, 28:31.43), classmate Geoffrey Barletta (58th, 28:38.55), junior Aaron Taylor (85th, 30:38.32), and junior Roswell Friend (87th, 30:41.53).
For the women, junior Rebecca Mims continues to front the pack, placing 31st in a time of 20:18.14. Finishing behind Mims was sophomore Katherine Frank, running a time of 20:37.08 for 38th place. Freshman Diedre MacFarland clocked in the next best time, finishing in 21:06.26 for 53rd place.
Finishing 64th and 65th were junior Tashima Stephens and sophomore Eva Sepulveda, running times of 21:22.98 and 21:23.99, respectively.
Other notable times were had by freshman Jenny Abercrumbie (75th, 21:34.41), classmates Victoria Gocht (81st, 22:01.75), Tonney Smith (96th, 22:55.18), and Jade Wilson (106th, 23:70.83). Sophomore Amy Stansbury finished the race in 23:31.50, while junior Shadaya Bennett clocked in a time of 23:58.03.
Up next for the Owls is the Atlantic 10 Chamionships, being held in St. Louis, MO on October 31.
