Senior captain selected to play in Division I Senior All-Star Game
Philadelphia – Temple field hockey senior Charise Young has been honored for her outstanding career on North Broad Street. Young, a co-captain of this year's squad, has been selected to participate in the 2009 Division I Senior All-Star Game.
The Harleysville, Pa., native currently leads her team with five assists on the season, which brings her career total to 23. Young has also netted two goals to bring her season points total to nine.
Young, the reigning Atlantic 10 Scholar Athlete of the Year, has started all 76 games during her career in North Philly. During the 2008 campaign, Young was also named to the NFHCA Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region, Atlantic 10 first team, and the 2008 All-Philadelphia Field Hockey Team.
The 2009 season marks the third straight that the Owls are represented at the Senior All-Star Game. Mary Catherine Kinneman and Alli Lokey were named to the competition in 2008 and 2007, respectively.
The all-star game honors the top senior field hockey players in the nation at the Division I level. This year's contest will be played on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, N.C.). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
