Field Hockey's Charise Young Named to All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team

Senior midfielder will play in all-star game on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Charise Young continues her collection of postseason honors as she has been named to the 2009 Longstreth / NFHCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team. This marks the second year that the senior midfielder has been named to the team as she also received the honor following the 2008 season.

Young, a Harleysville, PA native, has started all 81 games during her career for the Owls. During that span she has notched 18 goals and a team-leading 26 assists. This season Young led TU and tied for first in the conference with 11 assists. Young helped Temple to its seventh consecutive appearance in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and first showing in the championship game since 2003.

Additionally, Young has been named the A-10 Student Athlete of the Year for the second year. Majoring in secondary/social studies education, Young has posted a 3.97 GPA during her career on North Broad Street.

The senior co-captain has also been selected to compete in the 2009 Division I Senior All-Star Game. Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, N.C.) will host the game which is scheduled to take place this upcoming Saturday (Nov. 21) at 5:30 p.m.

Young is the fourth Owl in the past three years to be selected to participate in the contest as Alli Lokey and Ashley Bird were selected to compete in 2007 and Mary Catherine Kinneman was honored in 2008.
