PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey senior Charise Young was selected to, and recently participated in, the 2009 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Nov. 21. Owls' head coach Amanda Janney was on hand to witness Young and four others in the Atlantic 10 who were named all-stars.
The two all-star teams, named Home and Away (Young's team), faced each other in a competitive game, and then faced the U.S. National Team. Young's all-star team played the national team to a 0-0 tie.
Young is the fourth senior in three years to represent Temple at the all-star game. Mary Catherine Kinneman was selected in 2008, while Ashley Bird and Alli Lokey were selected in 2007.
The all-star game was just another honor on top of an already accomplishment-filled year for Young, who was recently named to the All Mid-Atlantic region second team for the second straight year. She was also an All A-10 first team selection for the second time, and recently helped lead the Owls to an appearance in the A-10 Tournament championship game.
