Colonials commit just six hitting errors in a 3-0 win against the Owls

WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington proved to be a formidable foe for the Temple volleyball team as the Colonials (17-7, 6-1) committed just six hitting errors in a 25-11, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of the Owls (4-17, 1-6) on Sunday afternoon.
George Washington recorded 43 team kills, while Temple tallied 27 kills and 21 errors. The Colonials were led by Lauren Whyte with 14 kills, while the Owls were led by Collin Wallace with eight kills.
GW out-blocked Temple 12-1, adding to an offensive performance that never allowed the Owls to establish a rhythm in the match.
Temple displayed its best effort in the third set and trailed by only one point at 19-18, but Whyte and teammate Taylor Knox combined for five kills over the final stretch as the Colonials closed out on a 6-3 run.
Ariel Pierre tallied a match-high 14 digs for the Owls, and Rikia Trischuk recorded 18 assists along with six digs.
The Owls will be back in action at home next weekend to take on Saint Louis and Duquesne. First up is a 7:00 p.m. match against Saint Louis on Friday, Oct. 22.
