Four Field Hockey Players Earn All-Atlantic 10 Honors

Bridget Settles and Katie Briglia named to Atlantic 10 First Team
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple field hockey had four players earn Atlantic 10 Conference honors, highlighted by the selection of junior Bridget Settles and sophomore Katie Briglia to the A-10 First Team. The Owls are getting set to host the A-10 Tournament Nov. 5-6 at Geasey Field.
Settles, who was an A-10 Second Team selection last year, earned first team honors after leading the Owls with 13 goals and five assists. Her 13 goals rank fourth among all players in the Atlantic 10, and she also ranks fourth in points with 31.
Briglia earns her first all-conference honor after an impressive sophomore season that has so far seen her score seven goals and tally two assists. She leads the team in game-winning goals with three.
Junior Becca Keener was named to the A-10 Second Team. She earns the nod for her defensive play which has helped lead to six shutouts this season. Keener has started all 20 games for the Owls.
Freshman Mandi Shearer was named to the A-10 Rookie Team. Shearer, a defender, has recorded two assists in her debut campaign for the Owls.
Temple is the fourth seed in the A-10 Tournament, and will face top-seeded UMass at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5. The other semifinal at 11:00 a.m. features #2 Lock Haven and #3 Richmond.
