PHILADELPHIA – Temple field hockey coach Amanda Janney has signed two more student-athletes for the 2010 season, in addition to the eight who committed to the team in early February. Molly Doyle (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy) and Lauren Hunt (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) will both play for the Owls this fall.

Doyle was a two-year varsity starter at nearby Merion Mercy Academy where she played for coach Jennifer Campbell. Her team was a state finalist two years ago and league champs this past season. Doyle also played club field hockey for Mystx and coach Tina Reinpretch.

Doyle's father, Leo, attended the Temple School of Law, and her sister, Therese, plays field hockey at Saint Joseph's where she is a rising junior.

“Molly is a poised defender with great experience playing in the backfield with her high school and club teams,” said Janney.

Hunt was a three-year varsity starter at Cumberland Valley High School for coach Patrick Weigle. As senior and team captain, she was a first team Mid-Penn All-Star selection for the second straight year, and also an All-Sentinel second team selection by the Carlisle Sentinel for the second year in a row.

“Lauren is a creative forward who comes highly recommended from her Club Coach, Bill Gaudette of East Coast Field Hockey,” said Janney. “She is also from the same high school as recently graduated TUFH alum, Leanne Vogelsong ('07).”

Hunt comes from an athletic family and one that has been active in the Philadelphia area. Her dad, Jeff, played football at Lehigh, while her uncle played football for Villanova.
