PHILADELPHIA
- Sophomore Khalif Wyatt led a balanced scoring attack of four Owls in double-figures as Temple dropped Charlotte, 76-67, on Wednesday night for the Owls 17th straight win at the Liacouras Center. Temple improves to 14-5, 4-2 in Atlantic 10 play on the year while the 49ers fall to 9-11, 1-5 in A-10 play.

Wyatt made his fourth start of the season in place of Juan Fernandez, who sat out tonight's contest to rest a bruised left knee. The Norristown, Pa., native filled up the stat sheet with a game-high 17 points, six assists and a career-high six rebounds.

Senior forward Lavoy Allen recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 boards, also marking the fourth time this season he has grabbed double-figure rebounds. Junior guard Ramone Moore and classmate forward Scootie Randall rounded out the Owls in double-figures, adding 16 and 14 points respectively.

The 49ers also saw four players tally in double-digit points, as sophomore forward Chris Braswell and junior guard Derrio Green netted 15. Green and junior guard Javarris Barnett led Charlotte with seven rebounds a piece.

Both teams were content with a fast pace of play from the start, each attempting to catch the other lagging in transition. The 49ers opened the game with a 5-2 run which was quickly erased by a free throw from junior center Micheal Eric and a three from Moore.

Charlotte regained the lead (12-9) on an 7-3 run, with Randall's first trey of the game separating twos from senior Anjuan Wilderness and Green in the stretch.  Eric chipped in a free throw before sophomore Rahlir Jefferson sparked the Owls with a transition dunk, tying the game at 12-12 with 11:28 to play.

Temple took its second lead of the game on a jumper from Randall, and after Charlotte's Barnett tied the game on a tip-in, Wyatt hit a deep three to give the Owls a 17-14 lead with 8:56 left.

The Owls managed to build a six-point lead twice in the first, but went into the locker room with their largest lead of the half, 30-23. Seven of the eight TU players who saw action collected a basket, with Moore netting a team-best nine points in the stanza. Allen came up big on the boards, grabbing seven caroms to help Temple outrebound Charlotte 22-14.

Charlotte cut into the Owls lead to come within four at 34-30, but a 16-6 run gave the Owls some cushion. Seven points from Moore and five from Randall, along with twos from Wyatt and Allen fueled the scoring, as the Owls scored 11 unanswered points from 16:08 to 12:55.

Allen collected his 11th rebound of the game on a Moore miss at 10:27, making the put-back to reach double-figures in scoring and secure the double-double. The Owls would push the scoring shortly after, as reserve T.J. DiLeo added four points to give Temple its largest lead yet of 16, 56-40, with just over eight minutes to play.

The Owls would maintain a double-digit lead until just over two minutes left in the contest, when Braswell hit a two to bring the score to 65-56. Foul shooting down the stretch was key for Temple, which struggled in the first half from the charity stripe (33.3%), but shot 68.8% in the second (11-16). Wyatt sunk his final eight free throws to hold off Charlotte and bring the final score to 76-67.

Up next for the Owls is a trip to the Palestra for a showdown with rival Saint Joseph's on January 29. Tip time is set for 11:00 a.m., with the game being broadcast on ESPNU.
