Bridget Settles Earns Third Atlantic 10 Player of the Week Award This Season

Settles helped keep Temple undefeated in A-10 play with the game-winning goal vs. La Salle
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Bridget Settles helped the Owls remain undefeated in league play while La Salle's Lisa Shaffer continued her dominant performance in net to earn each Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.
Senior co-captain Settles continued her impressive run this season, scoring on a penalty stroke in overtime to give the Owls a 2-1 win over La Salle, keeping Temple unbeaten in the A-10. Settles also recorded an assist on the Owls' game-winning goal vs. Richmond earlier in the week. The Haddon Township, N.J., native has scored on all three of her penalty stroke opportunities this season and leads Temple with 14 goals. She is nationally-ranked in scoring and her 39 career goals rank sixth all-time at Temple.
Shaffer extended her shutout streak to 181 minutes dating back to second half vs. Sacred Heart (10/2) before giving up a second half goal to Temple. The redshirt freshman allowed only one goal during regulation 10 on 10 play. Having faced 35 shots on the weekend, the Hershey, Pa., native made 18 saves and allowed two goals in 142:39 minutes, stopping 18 of 20 shots for .900 save pct on weekend. Shaffer ranks among the nation's leaders in saves and save pct.
