KYW Newsradio 1060 Interview with Bridget Settles

PHILADELPHIA - Three members of Temple field hockey earned Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region honors in 2011, as Bridget Settles was named to the All-Region First Team and teammates Katie Briglia and Kaylee Keener were named to the All-Region Second Team. For Settles, it is her second all-region honor after being named to the second team a year ago.

Settles, the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, will also be representing Temple in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 19 at the University of Louisville. Thirty-eight Division I seniors were selected to participate in the game.

KYW Newsradio 1060 personality Matt Leon interviewed Settles and two other local field hockey players selected to play in the Senior Game. The story and link to Settles' interview can be found HERE or at the link above.

Settles started in all 20 games for the Owls as a senior and led the team and conference in points (44), goals (20) and game-winning goals (6). She was responsible for over half the team's 37 goals for the season. The senior is also tied for 15th in the nation in goals per game (0.91) and is 24th for points per game (2.0).  Settles was named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team, to the 2011 A-10 First Team, the 2011 A-10 All-Academic Team and to the 2010 A-10 First Team. This season, Settles was a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.

Briglia, earning All-Region honors for the first time, was also named to the Atlantic 10 First Team along with Settles this season. She recorded five assists in 2011 to lead the Owls, along with two goals for nine total points. Briglia scored the game-winning goal for Temple in a 4-1 rout of Saint Joseph's, and at the conclusion of the season was named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team.

The All-Region honor is also the first for Keener, who tied for second on the team with four assists in her final season with the Owls. Along with Settles and Briglia, Keener started in all 22 games for Temple in 2011.
