Settles racks up the honors after being named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Year
PHILADELPHIA - Senior Bridget Settles continues to rack up the honors following an outstanding field hockey season, and she has now been named to the All-America Third Team by both Longstreth/NFHCA and Synapse Sports (formerly WomensFieldHockey.com). The two organizations released separate All-America teams following the 2011 NCAA Field Hockey Championships.
Settles, the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, was also recently named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region First Team. She is now the first Temple player to earn All-American honors since Alli Lokey in 2007.
This past weekend, Settles represented Temple in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game at the University of Louisville during the NCAA Field Hockey Championships, and scored a goal for her team.
Settles started in all 20 games for the Owls as a senior and led the team and conference in points (44), goals (20) and game-winning goals (6). She was responsible for over half the team's 37 goals for the season. The senior is also tied for 15th in the nation in goals per game (0.91) and is 24th for points per game (2.0). Settles was named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team, to the 2011 A-10 First Team, the 2011 A-10 All-Academic Team and to the 2010 A-10 First Team. This season, Settles was a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week.
