Tabor scores the Owls' final three goals of the contest to thwart comeback by the Dukes

PITTSBURGH - Freshman Jaymie Tabor led Temple lacrosse with four goals including the game-winner in sudden death overtime as the Owls notched a 16-15 double-overtime win at Duquesne on Friday afternoon. It was the second-straight game in which Tabor has led Temple (5-9, 3-2) in scoring, and she scored the team's final three goals of the contest to hold off a comeback attempt by the Dukes (8-6, 2-3).

Temple now stands in third place in the Atlantic 10, and looking strong to earn one of four spots in the Atlantic 10 Championships which will be hosted at Temple's Geasey Field April 29 and May 1. 

Stephany Parcell and Missy Schweitzer each scored three goals for the Owls, while Karly Cohen and Charlotte Swavola notched two goals apiece. Tess Bishop recored 11 saves in goal for Temple.

Cohen and Swavola each scored twice as Temple opened up a 7-0 lead on the Dukes in the first 16 minutes of the game. By halftime, the Owls had a 10-3 advantage.

Schweitzer put Temple up by eight goals early in the second half, but things began to unravel for the Owls from there, as Duquesne used a 6-0 run to come within two goals, 11-9. The Dukes tied the score for the first time at 12-12 with 9:31 remaining, and each team scored once more in regulation.

Duquesne's Katie Rekart scored the first goal of overtime number one, but Tabor answered with two goals for Temple, with her second coming at 52 seconds remaining. The Dukes' Meredith Dunn answered with 34 seconds left, sending the game into another overtime.

Just 13 seconds into the second overtime, which is sudden death, Tabor scored on an unassisted shot to give the Owls the win.

Temple will return to action in its final regular season home game on Sunday, April 17 at 12:00 p.m. vs. St. Bonaventure. The Owls will honor their four seniors prior to the game, and will also be celebrating Alumni Weekend as well as Friends of Jaclyn Week.
