STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The offense of No. 10 Penn State took control early and kept it as the Nittany Lions defeated Temple field hockey, 4-0 on Thursday night. Kelsey Amy scored twice for Penn State (6-3). The Owls fall to 3-6 overall and will return home on Sunday, Sept. 25 against Monmouth at 3:00 p.m.
Kelsey scored the first goal for Penn State in the 14th minute off a rebounded shot and save by Temple keeper Lizzy Millen. The Lions' Lauren Purvis scored on an assist from Laura Gebhart to make it 2-0 in the 20th minute, and Amy scored her second goal of the game just before halftime to make it 3-0, Penn State.
Midway through the second half, Taylor Herold scored after a play on a penalty corner for Penn State; one of the Lions' eight corner attempts in the game. The Owls had only one corner opportunity.
Millen finished with seven saves for Temple.
