Game Notes

PHILADELPHIA -
It will be a celebration at the Liacouras Center Saturday as Temple celebrates Hooter The Owl's Birthday as the men's basketball team welcomes Duquesne for a 2:00 p.m. CBS Sports Network (The Comcast Network locally) regional telecast.  The game will feature entertainment from mascots from around the Delaware Valley with the first 1,500 children 14 and under receiving replica Temple jerseys.

The Owls (20-5, 9-2 A10) will be looking to extend its nine-game win streak and remain atop the conference standings while the Dukes (15-10, 6-5 A10) have won three of their last four games and looking to position themselves for one of the four byes in the conference tournament.

Temple's Ramone Moore (18.8 ppg.), the A10 Player of the Week the last two weeks, has been red-hot of late.  Over the team's current win streak the senior guard is averaging 21.9 points, while shooting 52.3 percent from the field, 48.1 percent from three-point range and 87.8 percent from the line.  Junior guard Khalif Wyatt ranks second to Moore in the conference in scoring with a 16.7 average while senior guard Juan Fernandez (11.2 ppg.) also scores in double figures while leading the Owls in assists (3.8 apg.).

Temple's defense is much improved over the latest stretch with the return of 6-11 graduate center Micheal Eric (7.6 ppg., 8.1 rpg., 2.0 bpg.) to the lineup. The Owls are allowing just 64.3 points since Eric's return from a fractured right patella eight games ago.  Redshirt freshman Anthony Lee (5.3 ppg., 6.1 rpg.), who asked Dunphy to return Eric to the starting lineup for the Rhode Island game, and junior forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (8.8 ppg., 6.7 rpg., .589 FG%), give the Owls' a trio of interior players as well.

Sophomore guard Aaron Brown (7.3 ppg.), redshirt junior T.J. DiLeo (2.8 ppg.) and freshman guard Will Cummings (1.6 ppg.) round out Temple head coach Fran Dunphy's nine-man rotation.

Senior swingman B.J. Monteiro (14.9 ppg.) leads head coach Ron Everhart's squad.  The Dukes also have two other double-figure scorers in junior guard Sean Johnson (14.6 ppg.) and sophomore guard T.J. McConnell (11.8 ppg.). McConnell also leads the conference and ranks second nationally in steals (3.0 spg.).

Temple owns a 39-14 advantage in the series and has won all seven meetings at the Liacouras Center and eight in a row at home.
