Field Hockey's Amanda Janney Was a Presenter at the Black Women in Sports Foundation Mini-Forum

Janney joined Temple greats Nikki Franke and Marilyn Stephens at the April 18th event
PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey coach Amanda Janney recently presented at the Black Women in Sport Foundation's 2012 Next Step Women of Color Mini-forum, hosted at Temple on April 18. The mini-forum, held in Ritter Hall, was hosted by the Department of Athletics and the College of Education, and supported in part by the NCAA.
Janney was asked by Tina Sloan-Green, former lacrosse coach who guided Temple to two NCAA titles, to present on the team's perfect APR (academic progress rate). "We presented to a great crowd of about 40 people who were there to learn about college athletics or who were there to network," said Janney, who was excited to meet fellow presenter Marilyn Stephens. Stephens, a 1995 Temple Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, is the only female basketball player at Temple to have her jersey retired. She is now the head women's basketball coach at Cheyney University.
Nikki Franke, long-time fencing coach and also a 1995 Temple Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, served as the moderator for the forum.
The mini-forum is a professional development and preparation program to increase the proportion of women of color collegiate head coaches and athletic administrators at 4-year Division I NCAA institutions. The forum aims to discuss and explore strategies to recruit, inspire, educate and retain Women of Color in intercollegiate coaching and athletic administration positions.
