OLEAN, N.Y. - Six games remain on the A-10 docket for Temple and despite a 6-12 record through the first six conference weekends, the Owls are not out of A-10 Tournament contention just yet. Coming into this weekend on the road against St. Bonaventure, Temple (18-29, 6-12) is tied with the Bonnies (18-22, 6-12) in the league standings, making this another critical series before having to come home to close out the season against second place Rhode Island next week.
Winners of five of their last seven A-10 games, the Owls have suddenly turned the corner and are on a late season surge, as they go to Olean, N.Y. looking to win three straight A-10 series for the first time since 2001- the last time the team reached the postseason.
In the series finale against Dayton, head coach Ryan Wheeler shook up his batting order and it produced three home runs, which was a season-high by the team. Redshirt freshman Connor Reilly delivered the big hit with the Owls down a run, when he smoked a three-run bomb to put his team up for good.
Pitching coach Brian Pugh is starting to get consistent results out of all three of his pitchers in the weekend rotation. In five of the last six A-10 games, Temple has gotten a quality start from its starter.
Junior lefty Dan Moller has progressed immensely over his last three outings and his coming off a complete game and Big 5 Pitcher of the Week honors.
Making starts in the last nine games, junior Allen Stiles has taken over the lead as the team's most effective hitter with a .300 batting average.
Redshirt junior Steve Visnic made another appearance on Sunday, giving him 81 in his career at Temple thus far, placing him in a tie for second place all-time. He stands just three away from tying Peter Moore for No. 1 all-time.
From here, the Owls will play one final midweek non-conference game on Tuesday when they head to Lawrenceville, N.J. to battle Rider. Following that, they'll return to Skip Wilson Field to close out the regular season, as they'll host Rhode Island in one last A-10 weekend series.
St. Bonaventure has four players batting .310 or higher. Billy Urban is leading the offensive attack with a .353 batting average and 54 hits. Ryan Skellie has homered a team-high two times and also leads the team with four stolen bags.
On the mound, Jordan Crane leads the staff in wins with four, while Eddie Gray sports the staff's lowest ERA at 3.62. The third pitcher in the series will be Asa Johnson.
The Bonnies have won the last four head-to-head meetings and are in control of the all-time series with the Owls with a record of 32-21-0, dating back to 1993. Last season, St. Bonaventure swept a three game set from Temple at Skip Wilson Field (May 6-8). The last time the two met in Olean, the Owls won the first two games of the final weekend series of the season.
Out of the 'pen, the Owls have two pitchers that have program milestone marks in sight. Senior Brian Sustersic has six saves in his career-all coming this season-which has has him tied for seventh all-time at Temple and just eight off from tying the school record.

The Bonnies come home to Fred Handler Park looking to break a five-game skid. In their last time out, the Bonnies ran into the same tough Saint Louis squad the Owls faced earlier this season. St. Bonaventure was sent home winless through the three-game set. This weekend will be the final time the Bonnies will play at home this season.
Following its Senior Day game on Saturday afternoon, St. Bonaventure will head over to Buffalo on Tuesday for a midweek non-conference doubleheader before flying down to Charlotte for its last conferenc weekend series with the 49ers.
