Men's Basketball Travels to #9/9 Butler for Saturday Showdown

INDIANAPOLIS, IN –When Temple (13-5, 2-2 A10) takes on #9/9 Butler (16-3, 3-1 A10) at Hinkle Fieldhouse Saturday (6:00 pm/ESPN2/1210 AM WPHT) it will mark the fourth time this season the Owls will square off against a Top 10 opponent. The Cherry and White, who handed #3/4 Syracuse (83-79, 12/22) its only loss this season, will be looking a second Top 10 scalp.
Senior guard Khalif Wyatt, who scored a career-high 33 points in the upset of the Orange, leads head coach Fran Dunphy's squad. Wyatt tops the Owls and ranks second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring with a 17.5 average while also leading TU in assists (3.9 apg.). Sophomore forward Anthony Lee (11.8 ppg., 7.4 rpg.) and senior swingman Scootie Randall (11.0 ppg., 6.9 rpg.) also average double figures in points while ranking one-two in rebounding.
Senior forward Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson (8.3ppg., 5.4rpg.), who missed the Penn game due to a bruised left knee, tops the team in steals (30) and blocks (22) while ranking second in assists (3.3 apg.). Graduate forward Jake O'Brien (8.1 ppg.), who has started the last two games in place of Hollis-Jefferson, is the top three-point threat (29-68, .426).
Sophomore guard Will Cummings (5.7 ppg.) starts at the point with graduate student T.J. DiLeo (3.2 ppg.), the team's top perimeter defender, coming off the bench.
Butler, under the direction of head coach Brad Stevens, saw its 13-game win streak come to a grinding halt Wednesday with a 54-53 loss at La Salle. The Bulldogs, in their first year as an A10 member, sport a balanced attack that features five double-figure scorers.
Senior guard Rotnei Clarke, who has been sidelined the last three games due to a neck injury, practiced for the first time since the injury in the Dayton game on Jan. 12 and could return for the game. Clarke leads the Bulldogs in scoring with a 16.3 average and is one of the nation's most prolific three-point shooters (59-133, .444).
Senior Andrew Smith (11.9 ppg.), freshman Kellen Dunham (10.9 ppg.), sophomore Roosevelt Jones (10.5 ppg.) and junior Khyle Marshall (10.1 ppg.) also average double figure points per game. Jones, the reigning A10 and National Player of the Week, tops BU in rebounding with a 5.6 average.
