Riding a Five-Game Win Streak, #18 Field Hockey Maintains National Ranking for Fourth Straight Week

NFHCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 1)
PHILADELPHIA - With a five-game win streak and the best start for the program since 1990, Temple field hockey is ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll for a fourth week in a row. With an 8-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the BIG EAST Conference, the Owls stand at No. 18 in the poll.
Temple's next contest will be a big test, as the Owls will travel to #17 Louisville to face their first ranked opponent in a month. That game is slated for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Temple will return home for a non-conference game against Bucknell on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 p.m.
The 1990 Owls finished at 18-6 overall and advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals. That squad also went 8-2 before dropping a third game.
Prior this season, Temple had not been nationally-ranked since 2001. The Owls entered the poll at #11 on Sept. 10, and have remained in the top 20 since then.
As a team, the Owls are sixth in the nation in assists per game (3.00) and saves percentage (.818). Junior Amber Youtz is second among all players in NCAA Division I in points per game (3.13) and third in goals per game (1.25). Redshirt junior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen is fifth in saves percentage at .813.
