NFHCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 15)

PHILADELPHIA - For a sixth week in a row, Temple field hockey is ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, as the Owls moved up for a second week in a row and are now ranked #16. With a 10-4 overall record, the Owls are on pace for their best season in a number of years. In the BIG EAST, the Owls are 3-2 and sit in fourth place in the conference standings, behind three other Top 20 teams.

The upcoming weekend has Temple playing two non-conference games. On Friday, Oct. 18, the Owls will face Appalachian State at 3:00 p.m. in their Alumni Day and Play 4 The Cure game. On Sunday, Oct. 20, Temple will travel across town to face #20 Drexel.

There are currently four teams in the BIG EAST ranked in the Top 20- #2 Connecticut, #15 Old Dominion, #16 Temple and #17 Louisville. Temple's most recent game was against Old Dominion, and came down to the wire with the Owls ultimately falling short, 1-0.

In the latest NCAA Division I RPI rankings, the Owls are listed at #11 out of 80 total teams.

Junior Amber Youtz returned to action last week after missing some games due to injury, and made an immediate impact by scoring all three of the Owls' goals in a 3-1 win vs. Bucknell on Oct. 11. It was the fourth career hat trick for Youtz, who has 13 goals this season in just 10 games played. Senior Molly Doyle, who is currently tied for seventh in the conference in goals, scored all four of Temple's goals in two games the week before last. She scored the Owls' goal in a 2-1 overtime loss at Louisville, and then recorded her first career hat trick by leading Temple to a 3-1 win over Bucknell.

Temple will have just one home game remaining after this weekend, as the Owls will celebrate Senior Day against Georgetown on Friday, Oct. 25. After wrapping up BIG EAST play at UConn on Nov. 2, the Owls will look to have secured a spot in the four-team BIG EAST Tournament which will be hosted by UConn on Nov. 8 and 10.
