Field Hockey Remains Nationally-Ranked for a Seventh Straight Week; Owls Now #17

NFHCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 22) l BIG EAST Weekly Release
PHILADELPHIA - For a seventh week in a row, Temple field hockey remains ranked in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll as the Owls are now #17 of 20 teams. Temple is 12-4 overall and coming off back-to-back shutout wins last weekend. On Friday, Oct. 25, the Owls will play BIG EAST foe Georgetown in their final home game of the season at 3:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
At 3-2 in the BIG EAST, Temple sits in fourth place among eight teams. Four teams will advance to the BIG EAST Tournament which will be hosted by Connecticut on Nov. 8 and 10. The three teams who hold the top three spots are all ranked in the Top 20 as well. UConn is ranked fourth, Louisville is ranked 14th, and after a big upset win over top-ranked Maryland this past weekend, Old Dominion has jumped up to #10.
After Friday's game against Georgetown (2-13, 0-5), Temple will have one conference game remaining. The Owls will travel to UConn on Nov. 2, hoping to return six days later for the BIG EAST Semifinals.
Temple entered the national rankings on Sept. 10 at #11. Despite last week's two wins, the Owls fell one spot in this week's poll.
With 13 goals this season along with five assists, junior Amber Youtz ranks fourth in NCAA Division I and first in the conference in points per game at 2.58. Her 1.08 goals per game are seventh in the nation, and also tops in the BIG EAST. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen ranks third in the nation with a saves percentage of .827, and is seventh in goals against average at 1.17. As a team, Temple ranks second among all teams with a saves percentage of .833.
