PHILADELPHIA - Adding a prestigious honor to many already she's already earned this season, Temple field hockey's Amber Youtz is now a 2013 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Second Team All-American. She was also named a Second Team All-American by Synapse Sports.

Youtz, an NFHCA Division I All-Region First Team honoree this season, was also named to the BIG EAST First Team, BIG EAST All-Tournament Team and Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. She was twice honored as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week this season.

Sixteen student-athletes were named to the All-American First Team and 16 more named to the second team. Seven of those 38 are representatives of the BIG EAST, with four of those coming from national champion Connecticut and the two others coming from BIG EAST runner-up Old Dominion. The Owls took fourth place in the BIG EAST regular season standings, and had their season ended by the eventual national champion Huskies.

Youtz ranked second among all players in the country in points per game this season with 2.44, and she averaged one goal per game this season to rank fifth in the nation. Youtz led all players in the BIG EAST in both categories.

She scored 16 goals to go with seven assists, and recorded her fourth career hat trick in a 3-1 win vs. Providence on Oct. 11. It was the first game back for Youtz after sitting out for four full games due to injury. Youtz concluded her junior season with 103 career points to tie for fifth all-time in program history, and her 42 career goals rank seventh all-time.

Youtz becomes the second All-American for the program in the last three seasons, after former teammate Bridget Settles earned third team honors in 2011.
