Baseball Looks to Extend Winning Streak at Lehigh at 3:00 p.m.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Temple, now 6-9, will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to play an afternoon game against Lehigh University at Lehigh Baseball Field.  The Owls are coming off a doubleheader sweep against Penn State on Sunday.  TU is looking to continue their winning ways as they have won their last three games at home. 

Temple looks to win their last non-conference game before heading back home for Atlantic 10 conference play.  TU will look to keep their strong pitching going after they have allowed three runs or less in their last three games.

Scheduled to pitch is left-hander Dan Moller.  The red-shirt senior is making his fifth start of the year and looking to secure his first win.  The lefty is 0-2 on the season with a 9.53 ERA having pitched 17.0 innings giving up 18 earned runs.

Junior Henry Knabe and Sophomore Nick Lustrino lead the Owls in hitting both owning a batting average over .400.  Knabe, the Owls cleanup hitter, leads the team with a .431 batting average and in hits totaling 22 on the year thus far.  Shortstop Nick Lustrino has reached base safely in all 15 games this year.

First baseman Derek Peterson leads the Owls in runs scored, RBIs, and homeruns totaling 13 runs, 15 runs batted in, and two homers.  Peterson has started all 15 games for TU.

Lehigh has started the year off strong owning a 10-6 record overall.  Lehigh is coming into the game against the Owls losing two out of their last three games against Mt. St. Mary's.  The Mountain Hawks previously won six straight games.

Lehigh has two pitchers who have recorded three wins on the season.  Juniors Jayme Edwards (3-0) and Colin Gotzon (3-1) both have pitched over 20 innings and posted ERA's under 3.50.  Gotzon leads the team with 21 strikeouts.

On the offensive side of the ball, Lehigh has two batters hitting over .300. Justin Pacchioli leads the team with a .396 batting average followed by Casey Turner (.355).  Turner has started all 16 games posting a team leading 22 hits.  Pacchioli leads the Mountain Hawks in runs batted in recording 11 on the season.
