Field Hockey Named Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Top Five National Academic Squad

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Temple field hockey has been recognized as one of the top five 2012 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Teams, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on March 4. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. With a GPA of 3.49, Temple tied for fifth among all Division I field hockey teams.
In addition, 13 of the student-athletes on Temple's team were named to the National Academic Squad for having a GPA of 3.3 or above during that same semester. One of the 13, Emily Fuertsch, has been named a Scholar of Distinction for acheiving a GPA of 3.9 or above. All of the Owls' honorees are as follows:
