Temple was three outs away from securing its first no-hitter in 31 years when sophomore Eric Peterson took a no-hit game into the ninth inning before allowing the first of the game. The Owls will look to their starter, redshirt sophomore Zach Batchelor, to put forth a strong performance to get the team back on the winning track. Batchelor will be making the third start of his career and the first since April 26, 2011 against Villanova.
Senior Henry Knabe has provided the offensive production all season long as he owns a .394 batting average with a team-leading 23 RBIs. The third baseman carried a 12-game hitting streak before seeing his streak come to an end against George Washington, but has rebounded well getting multiple hits in four of his last five games. Knabe is 12-for-21 during the five game stretch.
Teammate and senior Jordan Queja is coming off one of his better weeks of the season as he batted 9-for-18 and went 7-for-13 in the weekend series versus La Salle, where he hit his first home run of the season. The second baseman is hitting .280 on the year and holds the team lead in runs scored with 26. Queja has reached base safely in every game this season, totaling 31 straight games dating back to last season, which is the second longest active streak in the Atlantic 10 this season. Charlotte's Corbin Shive, who is injured and is yet to play a game this season, ended 2012 with 37 straight.
