5.16.13 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA - Katie Briglia, the lone senior on the Temple field hockey team in the 2012 season, is graduating from Temple with the Class of 2013 today. Briglia, a broadcasting, telecommunications and mass media major, will participate in commencement ceremonies and then complete her degree requirements with an internship this summer.
"I am excited to graduate and look forward to what comes ahead," said Briglia. "I owe a lot to Temple. It has been a great experience and has provided me with many skills that I'll use going forward!"
Briglia was recently honored at Temple's Annual Breakfast of Champions as the 2013 PNC Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She is a three-time first team all-conference honoree, and has also been selected to the all-region team and the A-10 Championship team twice. In the classroom, the Phoenixville, Pa., native (Villa Maria Academy) posted a 3.71 cumulative grade-point-average while earning a place on the NFHCA Academic Squad the last three years.
"We are very proud of Katie and all of her accomplishments," said head coach Amanda Janney. "She has been a tremendously positive influence on our program and a great mentor for her teammates to look up to. She stepped up in her role as a Team Captain and leader, and she helped make our TUFH team better than it was four years ago. Katie's hustle, passion for the game, and her humor will be greatly missed next year. We wish her the best in her new career and know that she will be successful in whatever challenges lay ahead."
