Eight Field Hockey Players Named to USA High Performance Teams

PHILADELPHIA - Eight members of the Temple field hockey team, along with graduate assistant coach Kelly Driscoll, have been named to USA Field Hockey High Performance Teams in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Head coach Amanda Janney serves as an assistant coach and team administrator for the New Jersey team.
Alyssa Delp, Molly Doyle, Lauren Hunt, Nicole Kroener, Haley Mitchell, Taylor Shronk, Rachel Steinman and Amber Youtz were all named to the New Jersey High Performance team. Driscoll has been named to the Pennsylvania High Performance team.
"Having eight of our players try out for this years USA Field Hockey High Performance program and make the HP Training squad is an impressive number for our program," said Janney, "and is reflective of our team's dedication to train and find the best opportunities available to better themselves."
Driscoll, Youtz, Doyle, Mitchell and Kroener have made the HP training squads in previous years. Janney is returning to her role as coach after helping the NJ team win one National Championship as a player in 2005 and five National Championships as an assistant coach.
The New Jersey HP team has won six of the last eight Women's National Championships (WNC) including the last four straight, taking the title in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The players have spent the month of May training twice a week to prepare for the WNC, which will take place at Old Dominion, Driscoll's alma mater. She will be returning to play there for the first time since graduating in 2009. The WNC is a selection tournament where the new USA National Coach, Craig Parnam, will choose the 2013 USA National Team and players will be selected to go to the 2013 USA Under 21 National Tournament in June.
