Amber Youtz Named BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

9.16.13 | Field Hockey

NEW YORK - Amber Youtz has been named the BIG EAST Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15 after her record-setting performance for the 11th-ranked Owls. Youtz, who was also named the Under Armour Owlsports.com Athlete of the Week, is now the second Temple player in a row to earn the BIG EAST honor, after teammate Molly Doyle won the award a week ago.

Youtz scored four goals and added two assists for 10 points in the 11th-ranked Owls' 6-0 win against Monmouth on Sept. 14. The point total matches the highest total of any NCAA Division I player this season. Youtz's four goals are a career high and are the most scored at Temple since All-American Alli Lokey did it in 2007. It is only the second time since 1992 that a Temple player has scored four or more goals in a game.

For Youtz, it was the third hat trick of her career. She did it in back-to-back games last year, becoming the first player to achieve that feat since Hall-of-Famer Jane Catanzaro in 1990.

Currently, Youtz is averaging 3.33 points per game to rank second among all players in the nation, along with 1.33 goals per game to rank fourth. She has scored eight goals and added four assists in just six games for Temple. Her career totals of 34 goals and 84 points both rank ninth all-time in program history, and Youtz is only in her junior season.
