THIS WEEK

Temple returns home to Philadelphia on Tuesday, Jan. 14 to host SMU at Noon in its first game of the season at the Liacouras Center.  The game is the Owls' annual "Shoot for Success" game with area school students in attendance.
 
The American Digital Network will televise the game live online with Bob Picozzi calling the action and Debbie Antonelli providing color analysis.
 
The Owls then return to road action on Saturday, Jan. 18 with a stop in Cincinnati.  Tip-off at Fifth Third Arena is set for 2 p.m.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 8-7 overall and 2-3 in American Athletic Conference play after an 80-36 loss at No. 1 Connecticut on Jan. 11.
 
After 15 games, freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 13.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) follows with 12.8 ppg and a team-best 7.7 rpg.  Sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) adds 10.1 and 6.1 rpg. Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.0 ppg and 6.9 rpg.   Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) also adds 9.1 points and a Conference-best .903 shooting from the free throw line.  
 
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs, under the guidance of 23rd-year head coach Rhonda Rompola, stand 11-5 overall and 2-3 in American play after a 64-54 loss at Rutgers on Jan. 11.
 
Senior guard Keena Mays is the Mustangs' top scorer with 19.3 ppg and 5.9 rpg.  Senior forward Akil Simpson follows with 14.1 ppg and a team-best 8.3 rpg, while junior forward Destynee Hives-McCray averages 11.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg.
 
SERIES VS. MUSTANGS
This is the first meeting between Temple and SMU in women's basketball action.
