Men's Basketball Looks for First Conference Win at UCF on Saturday

- The second game of the American Athletic Conference schedule takes Temple men's basketball to UCF on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 4:00 p.m. The game between the Owls (5-6, 0-1) and the Knights (8-4, 0-1) will be televised on ESPNews. Both teams are looking for their first win in the new conference after falling to Rutgers and Louisville, respectively.

• The Owls suffered a close, 71-66 loss on the road at Rutgers in their American Athletic Conference opener on Jan. 1.

• Quenton DeCosey scored a career-high 25 points at Rutgers, hitting 9-of-14 FG's and 6-of-7 from behind the arc. DeCosey is the only Owl to have scored in double figures in all 11 games.

• Dalton Pepper had an impressive streak in the second half at Rutgers, scoring all 19 of his points over a 19-10 run for the Owls.

• On Dec. 21, the Owls scored 100 points for the first time since 2007 when they defeated LIU Brooklyn, 101-65.

• Pepper, who earned his third Big 5 Player of the Week honor, led the way at LIU Brooklyn with career highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds for his first-ever double-double.

• TU has scored 80 or more points in five of the last seven games.

• Will Cummings, who scored in double figures in the first 10 games of the season, set a new career scoring high (23 pts) at LIU Brooklyn.

• Temple and UCF are meeting for the first time in program history. The only other team in The American that Temple has never faced is Houston.

• UCF had won five straight before playing its American opener vs. #14/10 Louisville, and falling 90-65.

• Four players average in double figures in scoring for the Knights, led by senior guards Isaiah Sykes and Calvin Newell at 14.3 ppg.

• UCF leads all teams in the conference with a rebounding average of 40.9, and ranks third in rebounding margin at +6.5.
