THIS WEEK
Temple returns home to Philadelphia to close out the month with three home games in six days. The first game is the Owls' final Big 5 game (and last non-conference game) on Wednesday, Jan. 22 against Penn at 7 p.m. at McGonigle Hall.

A videostream of the game will air live on OwlSports.com with Ed LeFurge providing play-by-play, and Temple Associate AD/SWA and former coach Kristen Foley providing color commentary.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls, under sixth-year head coach Tonya Cardoza, stand 10-7 overall and 4-3 in American Athletic Conference play after a come-from-behind 58-47 win at Cincinnati on Jan. 18.

After 17 games, freshman Feyonda Fitzgerald (Norfolk, Va.) is the Owls' leading scorer with 13.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Senior Natasha Thames (Port Huron, Mich.) follows with 11.8 ppg and a team-best 8.1 rpg.  Senior Shi-Heria Shipp (Salisbury, N.C.) adds 10.3 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Sophomore Erica Covile (Detroit, Mich.) averages 9.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg.   Junior Tyonna Williams (Fort Washington, Md.) adds 9.5 points and a Conference-best .907 shooting from the free throw line.

SCOUTING PENN
The Quakers, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Mike McLaughlin, stand 8-5 overall,  0-1 in the Ivy League, and 1-2 in Big 5 play after a 60-52 loss at Saint Joseph's on Jan. 17.

Senior guard Alyssa Baron is the Quakers' top scorer with 13.0 ppg and 5.9 rpg.  Freshman center Sydney Stipanovich follows with 10.8 ppg and a team-best 7.7 rpg.

SERIES VS. QUAKERS
Temple leads in series action, 49-15, since the teams' first met in 1924.  The Owls have won nine consecutive games against the Quakers, including five  victories under Tonya Cardoza.

Last season at The Palestra, Temple captured its ninth straight win over Penn, 59-51.

Building up a 24-point lead in the second half, the Owls held off the pesky Quakers. The Quakers began to put the pressure on down the stretch, using an 18-4 run to close the gap to 10, 55-45 at 3:03. Temple scored just twice over an eight and a half-minute span, and with just over a minute remaining the Quakers were able to narrow the margin to single digits.

With a pair of free throws near the one-minute mark, Penn's Katy Allen put her team within eight, 57-49. The next two attempts from the field were misses for the Quakers, who were forced to foul.

Tyonna Williams hit 2-of-2 at the line with 20 seconds remaining for a 10-point cushion, and Penn was able to get just two free throws for the final tally of 59-51.

Victoria Macaulay led Temple with 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Williams scored 13 points.
