Amber Youtz Racks Up Two More Field Hockey Player of the Week Awards

PHILADELPHIA - After already earning the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week Award for a second time, Temple field hockey senior Amber Youtz has now also been named the Corvias ECAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week (for a second time), and the Phila Field Hockey Attacker of the Week. The two additional awards made it four for the week, as Youtz was also named the Under Armour OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week.
Youtz scored seven goals in two wins for the now 16th-ranked Owls last weekend, recording back-to-back hat tricks. When she scored back-to-back hat tricks for the first time in 2012, she was the first player to do so since Hall-of-Famer Jane Catanzaro in 1990. Youtz was unstoppable in both games, totaling 14 points for the Owls. In Temple's 6-3 BIG EAST win over Villanova, she ripped 13 shots and scored four goals, including the game-winner.
Two days later, Youtz turned in a similar performance against La Salle, taxing the keeper with 11 shots and notching another hat trick, including the game-winning goal. Her 14-point weekend gave her a comfortable lead in the BIG EAST season rankings for points, outscoring the No. 2 player on the ledger by 12 points, and the No. 2 goal-scorer by six. Youtz is the only league player to average more than one goal per game (1.29) and more than two points per contest (2.79).
With 60 career goals, Youtz ranks fourth all-time in program history, needing eight more goals to tie for third. Her 142 career points also rank fourth all-time at Temple, and she needs 22 more points to tie for third in that category.Â
After her big scoring weekend, Youtz now ranks third in NCAA Division I with 1.29 goals per game, and fourth with 2.79 points per game.
