PHILADELPHIA - It was another strong season for Temple field hockey as the Owls were nationally ranked all season long and advanced to the championship game of the BIG EAST Tournament. In the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll of the season, Temple was ranked 14th after finishing at 14-7 overall. Tenth-year head coach Amanda Janney and 2014 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year Amber Youtz took some time to talk about the season and what they see down the road for next year.

2014 Temple Field Hockey Season Highlights
• Temple finished 14-7 overall for a third winning season in a row, and went 3-2 in the BIG EAST Conference to earn the third seed of four teams that advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament.
• The Owls made a 12th straight appearance in a conference tournament, and second straight appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament after 10 Atlantic 10 Tournaments in a row.
• In just their second year in the BIG EAST, then-#16 Temple advanced to the tournament championship with a 2-1 win over #17 and second-seeded Old Dominion. The Owls lost 4-1 in the title game to defending NCAA champ UConn, and the Huskies have now advanced to the NCAA semifinals for a second year in a row.
• Senior forward Amber Youtz racked up numerous honors for an outstanding season, including being named the 2014 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year.
• Youtz and senior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen were both named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All Mid Atlantic Region First Team, while senior Nicole Kroener and junior Alyssa Delp were named to the All Region Second Team.
• All four of the Owls' All-Region honorees were also All-BIG EAST honorees, with Youtz, Millen and Kroener named to the BIG EAST First Team and Delp earning BIG EAST Second Team honors.
• Kroener, Millen, Youtz and sophomore Katie Foran were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team...Foran scored a goal in both tournament games for Temple.

• The Owls are looking to earn their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1992...Temple has made a total of six NCAA appearances (1982, 1983, 1984, 1990, 1991, 1992) and won its first game four times.
• Temple remained nationally ranked for all 10 weeks of the season, never coming in lower than 16th, getting as high as 13th, and finishing the season ranked 14th.
• Youtz led all players in NCAA Division I for much of the season, finishing with 27 goals and 62 points...She is also the active career leader in NCAA Division I with 69 career goals and 165 career points. 
• Temple swept the BIG EAST Weekly Awards twice in 2014...Youtz earned three BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors, Millen earned three BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors, and junior defender Taylor Shronk was the lone non-goalie to earn a BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honor.
• Millen and Youtz were among 38 seniors across the nation selected to play in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 22 at Maryland...They are the ninth and 10th Owls in the last eight years to earn the honor.
• Youtz finished her career ranked third all-time at Temple with 69 career goals and 165 career points, and eighth with 27 career assists.
• Kroener completed her career with 30 assists to rank fifth all-time in Temple program history.
• Millen finished the season ranked eighth in NCAA Division I with a save percentage of .773 and led the BIG EAST in that category...Her 413 career saves rank sixth all-time at Temple.
• In the Owls' BIG EAST season opener at Providence on Oct. 3, they fell behind 3-0 before coming all the way back to tie with three goals in the final 16 minutes of regulation...Freshman Maiyah Brown scored the game-winner in overtime off an assist from Youtz for a 4-3 victory.
• Temple's other wins included a 2-0 shutout victory over then-#10 UMass, a 6-1 win at Rutgers out of the Big Ten, and a 5-1 win vs. Delaware.
• In two 4-0 shutout victories in one week against Georgetown and Lafayette, Youtz had a hand in all eight goals, scoring four and assisting on the other four.

• Six of the Owls' seven losses were to teams ranked in the Top 20 (#2 Maryland, #5 Penn State, #8 Duke,  #19 Old Dominion and #4/#3 UConn), while the seventh was a 1-0 overtime loss to Drexel.
