Field Hockey Remains Ranked at No. 16 in the NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll

PHILADELPHIA - Heading into this weekend's BIG EAST Conference Tournament, Temple field hockey has earned a national ranking for a ninth week in a row. For a fourth straight week, the Owls are ranked 16th in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
In the NCAA RPI, the Owls come in at #14 this week.
Temple is the third seed of four teams in the upcoming tournament, which will be held at Providence College. The Owls lost by just a single goal to both teams seeded above them, top-seeded UConn and second-seeded ODU. Temple will face #17 ODU in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
After winning three straight, Temple had the streak snapped this past Saturday by #4 UConn, also the defending NCAA and BIG EAST champion. The Owls had a 3-2 lead for most of the second half, but the Huskies scored twice in the final five minutes to get the 4-3 win. Freshman Rachael Mueller scored twice for the Owls, and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. After defeating Temple, the Huskies moved up a spot to #3 in this week's poll.
Senior Amber Youtz remains the NCAA Division I leader this season in both goals (26) and points (60), and is also the active career leader among all Division I players with 68 career goals and 163 career points. She is now tied for third all-time at Temple in career goals, is fourth in points and eighth with 27 assists.
With eight saves against UConn, senior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen moved into sixth place all-time at Temple with 404 career saves. She is tied for 10th all-time with a goals-against average of 2.06. Nationally, Millen ranks sixth in saves percentage this season at .787.
Rounding out the senior class that was honored prior to Saturday's game is standout midfielder Nicole Kroener, who ranks sixth all-time at Temple with 28 career assists.
The Owls will be making their 12th-straight appearance in a conference tournament this weekend. and 10th straight under head coach Amanda Janney. The team earned a berth in 10 straight Atlantic 10 Tournaments, and will now be making a second-straight appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament.
