Men's Basketball Heads to #7/4 Louisville on Thursday; Owls Facing Fifth Straight Ranked Team

- For the second time in 13 days, Temple men's basketball will face the defending national champ as the Owls head to #7/4 Louisville for a Thursday night game on Feb. 27. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. on ESPN2. Temple (7-19, 2-12) is coming off a narrow overtime loss at #22/24 Memphis on Feb. 22, while the Cardinals (23-4, 12-2) come into the game having won six straight.

Headlines
• For the first time ever, Temple is playing five straight games against teams in the Top 25. The Owls faced four in a row in 1995-96.

• Temple is playing the eighth-toughest schedule in NCAA Division I according to the ESPN RPI rankings.

• Temple is one of only six teams in Division I to have four players averaging 13 or more points per game.

• The Owls' top four scorers, who have accounted for 83 percent of the team's points, produced just 26 percent of last year's total points.

• For the first time since Feb. 20, 2008, the Owls had three players with 20 or more points in their overtime loss at #22/24 Memphis on Feb. 22.

Dalton Pepper tops the team in scoring (17.2 ppg, 4th AAC), three-pointers (2.8 pg, 2nd AAC), and minutes played (37.3 mpg, 1st AAC).

• Pepper led all scorers with 24 points in the Owls' 71-64 win over #23 SMU on Feb. 16, and was a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line.

Quenton DeCosey (15.2 ppg, 10th AAC) scored in double figures in the first 17 games of the season and has done so in 23 of 26 overall.

Will Cummings is second on the team and fifth in the league with 16.3 ppg, and has scored in double figures in 22 of 24 games played.

• Temple and Louisville are meeting for the seventh time and for the second time this season after #13/8 Louisville won 82-58 just 13 days ago on Feb. 14 at the Liacouras Center.

• The most recent meeting since this season was in 2002 when the Owls beat the Cardinals in Louisville, 65-62 in the NIT 2nd Round.

• Louisville coach Rick Pitino's first season with the Cardinals ended with that NIT loss to Temple on March 19, 2002, bringing UofL's record to 19-13.

• Four players also average in double figures in scoring for Louisville, led by senior guard Russ Smith with 17.5 ppg (3rd in AAC) and sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell with 13.0 ppg to go with a team-best 8.2 rpg (3rd in AAC).
