Women's Gymnastics Set to Host ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA – This weekend the women's gymnastics Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships come to McGonigle Hall, as Temple University welcomes William and Mary, Brown, Cornell, Penn and Yale for a meet that all six squads spend all season preparing for. The meet will start at 12:00 p.m. with six teams rotating for the four events.
Host Temple (14-11) is ranked fourth in the ECAC with a team RQS of 191.650 and season high of 192.325. The Owls have beaten Penn and Cornell twice already this season.
Under the direction of eight year head coach Aaron Murphy, the Owls will look to use the home advantage to win the ECAC Championship.
Senior, Brittanie DeMeno, comes into the six-squad meet tied for ninth on vault with a RQS of 9.680. DeMeno set her season high of 9.75 in a quad-meet at Eastern Michigan, and has scored at least 9.7 on vault in two other meets.
Senior, Jasmine Johnson, is ranked fifth on floor with an exciting routine that has landed her a RQS of 9.740. Johnson has recorded a season high of 9.8 in three meets this season, including the Ken Anderson Memorial Invite victory at home and last weekend's meet. She is also 12th in the ECAC on vault with a RQS of 9.650. Johnson has scored at least a 9.65 on vault in her past five meets.
Junior, Lauren Capone, is 14th on vault with a RQS of 9.625. Capone is also ranked 11th on floor with a RQS of 9.675, excelling in her two events this season. She set her career highs in vault (9.825) and floor (9.8) last weekend at William and Mary.
Sophomore, Reagan Oliveri, comes into the meet as highest ranked Owl (12th) on uneven bars with a RQS of 9.635. Oliveri has scored at least a 9.5 on bars in all but one meet.
Senior Sylvie Borschel has been outstanding on the balance beam all year for Temple, with an RQS of 9.75 that ranks her third in the ECAC. Her lowest score has been only a 9.575, and she her season high of 9.825 last weekend at William and Mary.
Freshman Briana Odom is ranked eighth in the all-around as Temple's primary performer on the all-around. She has set an RQS of 37.31 and posted a season high of 38.25 at the Eagle Invitational to win the all-around for the meet.
