Baseball Drops Game Two of Weekend Series at UCF 8-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – Temple baseball (7-12, 2-3) dropped the second game of a weekend series to UCF (16-12, 5-0) 8-2 on Saturday night at UCF Baseball Complex.
UCF jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. They added one more in the third and fourth off starter Preston Hill. Hill lasted four innings for the Owls, allowing six earned runs, eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
The Knights added two more runs in the eight off Patrick Vanderslice, who pitched the rest of the game when he relieved Hill in the fifth. Vanderslice allowed two earned runs and four hits with two strikeouts in four innings pitched.
Temple's two runs came in the ninth inning. Robert Amaro had a two-run homerun with Derek Peterson on first base, who singled to third base to start the inning.
Amaro and Peterson were both two for four at the plate.
The final game of the weekend series is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. Senior Ryan Keuhn is scheduled to start for the Owls after winning in his first start of the season last week at Memphis in the final game of that series.
