Baseball Drops Final Game of Weekend Series to UCF 12-5

ORLANDO, Fla. – Temple baseball (7-13, 2-4) lost the final game of a weekend series at UCF (17-12, 6-0) on Sunday afternoon 12-5 at UCF Baseball Complex. UCF won all three games this weekend to sweep Temple.
The Knights jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings, and added another six runs in the fourth and fifth to take control of the game.
Ryan Kuehn started his second game of the 2014 season, allowing three earned runs in two and two-third innings. Kuehn gave up four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Temple scored two runs in the third inning that had cut UCF's lead to three. With two outs, Reyn Sugai singled to right center. After Daniel Dragos singled to right field, Derek Peterson doubled to center field to knock in Dragos and Sugai.
The Owls added another run in the fourth that cut the deficit to two runs. Michael D'Acunti singled to left center and advanced to third on Andrew Nist's singled to left center. A wild pitch allowed D'Acunti to score.
Two more runs were scored by Temple in the sixth inning. D'Acunti singled to the right side and went to second when Nist singled to left field. Frank D'Agostino singled to right center that allowed D'Acunti to score from second. With two outs, Sugai hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Nist.
D'Acunti and Nist both went two for three at the plate.
Temple will face Delaware on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Ambler, Pa. The opening game of the Liberty Bell Classic was originally scheduled last week, but was postponed due to winter weather.
