LAFAYETTE, Pa. - Senior Chantal Montrose kept her impressive season going for #7 Temple fencing, placing fifth in epee at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championship on Saturday. Freshman Rachael Clark was the Owls' next-highest finisher, placing sixth in epee.

In total, the Owls had seven of their 12 representatives advance to finals. All 17 of Temple's fencers qualified for the NCAA Regional, but only 12 can compete per school.

In addition to Montrose and Clark, freshman Alexandra Keft was a finalist in epee and placed ninth. Sophomore Jessica Hall finished 17th.

Junior Tiki Kastor was a finalist in sabre and placed eighth, while sophomore Petra Khan was also a finalist and placed 12th. Khan was seeded 13th coming in, and had to fence in round one (of four) while the top 12 seeds did not.

Junior Lauren Rangel-Friedman and senior Tasia Ford advanced to the semifinals in sabre, placing 13th and tied for 14th, respectively.

In foil, both senior Epiphany Georges and sophomore Fatima Largaespada advanced to the finals, and ultimately placed 10th and 11th, respectively. Freshman Miranda Litzinger was 22nd, while sophomore Demi Antipas was 24th.

After a round-one bye, Montrose was undefeated at 5-0 in round two, and then went 4-1 in round three. Clark also had a bye in round one before going 4-1 in both the second and third round.

The Owls will now await the NCAA Championship selections, which will be made on Tuesday, March 11. The NCAA Championships are set for March 20-23 in Columbus, Ohio.
