SYRACUSE, N.Y.
- With a 3-0 sweep of Delaware State, Temple volleyball finished the weekend with a perfect record of 3-0 to win the team title at the Syracuse Invitational. The Owls took down the Hornets on the final day by scores of 25-12, 25-8 and 25-18.

Sophomore Kirsten Overton was named the Tournament MVP, and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by fellow sophomore Caroline Grattan. Overton was impressive all weekend, finishing with 31 total kills and hitting .592 thanks to committing only two errors in three matches. Grattan amassed 46 total kills (4.18 per set) while also recording 24 digs (2.18 per set).

Grattan put up impressive numbers on offense Sunday morning, leading all players with 15 kills while also recording seven digs and three blocks. Freshman Izzy Rapacz knocked down seven kills and hit .462, while Overton tallied six kills and hit .625.

Junior Alyssa Drachslin led the Owls with 10 digs. Senior Jennifer Iacobini recorded six kills to go with three blocks, and senior setter Tiffany Connatser recorded 38 assists on 45 Temple kills.

"It was a difficult match because of the high we were on from yesterday," said Temple head coach Bakeer Ganes. "The match last night was really demanding and we had to be mentally fresh. Tiffany did a great job running the offense and the team today. She put our hitters in very good position to score. They did a good job executing and that's why we were so dominant in this match."

Coach Ganes was able to put a number of his athletes into the match, and was impressed with all of them as well as with those on the bench. "We had a lot of kids do a great job," he said. "It was nice to see everyone doing well, and even the other kids were really into and were great teammates."

The second set was the strongest of the match for Temple, as the Owls recorded 15 team kills and only a single error for a hitting percentage of .538. Grattan was responsible for seven of those kills, and Iacobini recorded three blocks in just the second set. With an 11-5 lead, the Owls cruised home by closing out the set with 14 points to Delaware State's three.

The Owls will be back in action at their own annual Temple Invitational next weekend. First up for Temple is a 6:00 p.m. match against Charlotte on Friday, Sept. 5.
