8.7.14 | Men's Basketball

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Friday will be an historic day for Temple University and its men's basketball program as the legendary Guy Rodgers, arguably the greatest player in Philadelphia Big 5 and school history will become the first Owl men's basketball player to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Rodgers, who becomes the third Temple men's basketball person inducted, joins former Temple coaches John Chaney and Harry Litwack.  He also becomes the first player to compete in the Philadelphia Big 5 to be enshrined.

"This is a great day not only for Temple University and its Basketball program, but for the city of Philadelphia," said Temple men's basketball coach Fran Dunphy. "This is a tremendous honor and recognizes Guy as one of the best players in the history of the game, an honor he clearly deserves."

Dunphy will be part of a contingent of Temple University alums and former players to attend Friday's night's ceremony.  The 2014 Enshrinement Ceremony will be televised live on NBA-TV at 6:30 p.m.
