NEW YORK - Temple senior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen has been named the BIG EAST Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the opening week of the season, after helping the Owls to a pair of wins and recording a shutout against #10 UMass. Senior forward Amber Youtz, who scored three goals in the two victories, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Millen was credited with both wins in the opening weekend of play, boasting league-best marks of an .833 saves percentage and a 0.52 goals against average. She made two stops in a 4-2 win over Northeastern on Friday, before rejecting three shots against #10 UMass on Sunday en route to the 2-0 shutout victory. The blank sheet was the first for Temple against a ranked opponent since a 3-0 win over Penn State on Sept. 6, 2013.

Youtz scored three of Temple's six goals against Northeastern and UMass. She put in two goals in Temple's 4-2 season-opening win vs. Northeastern at the Conference Cup Tournament, including one on a penalty stroke opportunity. She also scored the second goal in the Owls' 2-0 shutout win against #10 UMass.

Temple is back in action on Friday, Sept. 5 for a 3:00 p.m. game at Rutgers.
