Nicole Kroener Named Student-Athlete of the Week by Phila Field Hockey

9.4.14 | Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA - Temple's Nicole Kroener has been named the first Student-Athlete of the Week by PhilaFieldHockey.com, presented by Longstreth Field Hockey. The award honors a student-athlete who is in high academic standing, has played an important role on the team in performance and/or leadership, and who is involved in an extracurricular activity or service work.

Kroener, the Owls' starting center midfielder and team co-captain, is an exceptional student and volunteer. She boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.70 as a business major in the Fox School of Business, and secured an internship at TD Bank this past summer, where she served as an audit operations intern for TD Bank's internal audit department. In addition to her full-time internship, Kroener helped to manage Field Hockey America's Summer in the City, a program for college field hockey players to play pick-up hockey, which ran on Mondays and Wednesdays for two hours each week throughout the summer.

"Nicole is a team leader who is an outstanding representative of our Temple Field Hockey team on and off the field," said Temple head coach Amanda Janney. "She is our quarterback and work horse on the field and she knows how to get it done off the field. She has excelled in the classroom and prepared herself to graduate in four years."

Student-Athlete of the Week is presented by Longstreth Field Hockey. Longstreth has been dedicated to supporting and developing women's sports since 1977.
