Alyssa Delp Selected to Play in NFHCA Division I Senior Game
10.28.15 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA - Alyssa Delp is one of 38 seniors across the country to be selected to play in the 2015 Victory Sports Tours / NFHCA Division I Senior Game, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Wednesday. The game will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the University of Michigan at 2:30 p.m.
"The committee made a terrific choice in selecting Alyssa to the team," said Temple head coach Marybeth Freeman. "She is consistent, dependable and an exceedingly talented hockey player. She's been a catalyst for our team's attack and we are thrilled for her to represent her team and the University at this event."
Delp joins three other BIG EAST players who were also selected, two from UConn and one from Old Dominion. She is the 11th Temple senior in the last nine years who will represent the program at the Senior Game. Last year the Owls had Amber Youtz and Lizzy Millen both selected, while the year before, current volunteer assistant coach Molly Doyle represented Temple.
The Owls' leading scorer with 12 goals so far this season, Delp was a unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST Team selection. She was named to the NFHCA All-Region Second Team and All-BIG EAST Second Team as a junior. Her goal total currently ranks in a tie for second among all players in the BIG EAST this year, and she ranks fourth in total points with 28. Delp has been given four chances on penalty strokes this season, and has converted all four. She has twice been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, including this past week after scoring three goals in a 3-0 week for Temple.
Temple has one regular-season game remaining at Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 31 at noon. The Owls are still looking to clinch a spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament, set for Nov. 6-8 at Old Dominion University.
