Haley Mitchell Earns Spot on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - Temple senior goalkeeper Haley Mitchell has been named to the BIG EAST Conference's Weekly Honor Roll in field hockey after an impressive performance in the Owls' only game of the week.
Mitchell easily surpassed her previous career high, making 12 saves against the #12 team in the nation, Liberty, on Sunday. The Owls suffered a 3-2 double-overtime defeat to the Flames, but Mitchell kept Temple in the game. She made four of her saves during the first overtime period, and five to keep Liberty scoreless in the first half of regulation.
Temple will play its seventh ranked opponent of the season in its next game, a 2 p.m. home contest against #1 UConn on Friday, Oct. 9.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Charlotte Veitner, Connecticut, So., F
Veitner posted two dishes in the Huskies' 10-0 win over league foe Villanova before scoring a season-high four goals against Yale the next day in the 8-0 triumph. The sophomore has tallied five hat tricks over 11 games for No. 1 UConn and leads the nation in points per game (4.82).
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Roisin Upton, Connecticut, Sr., M
The BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year anchored a relentless UConn defense that allowed just seven shots across two games, shutting out both opponents. Upton made her presence known on the offensive end as well, tallying a hat trick and two assists against Villanova and added another helper in the tilt with Yale.

Hamilton found the back of the net twice in the Friars 4-1 win over Georgetown to open BIG EAST play.
