Men's Basketball Hosts Delaware Sunday in Home Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Men's Basketball team opens the home portion of its schedule this Sunday (Nov. 29) when the Owls tip off against Delaware at 5:00 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Liacouras Center. Â The game will be available on ESPN3 and can be heard on 1210 AM WPHT.
The Owls (1-3) are coming off consecutive setbacks to nationally ranked foes, falling to then #22/20 Butler (74-69) and #16/16 Utah (74-68) at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off last week. Â Temple's other loss also came to a ranked opponent, a 91-67 defeat at the hands of then #1/1 North Carolina at the Veterans Classic in Annapolis, Md. Â The Owls' victory came in the opener of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, a 75-70 decision over Minnesota.
Senior guard Quenton DeCosey, who became the 51st TU player to reach the 1000-point plateau in the win over the Golden Gophers, leads the Owls with a 15.3 scoring average. Â Senior guard Devin Coleman (12.3 ppg.) and sophomore forward Obi Enechionyia (10.7 ppg.) also average double figures while senior captain Jaylen Bond (9.5 ppg., 8.5 rpg.) tops the squad in rebounding.
Head coach Fran Dunphy has used a deep bench with nine Owls averaging double-figure minutes. Â Junior guard Josh Brown (7.0 ppg.), who tops the squad in assists (14), averages a team-high 31.3 minutes per game.
Delaware, off to a 2-1 start following a 73-72 win Tuesday in its home opener against FDU, sports a balanced attack featuring four double-figure scorers. Â
Redshirt senior captain Marvin King-Davis leads head coach Monte Ross' Blue Hens with a 14.3 scoring average. Â Sophomore guard Kory Holden (13.3 ppg.) is close behind with sophomore forward Chivarsky Corbett (11.3 ppg.) and junior guard Cazmon Hayes (10. ppg.) rounding out the quartet.
The Owls, who have won five of their last six home openers, hold a 39-6 advantage all-time, and have won 19 straight against the Blue Hens.
