Two First-Place Finishes Earned by Track and Field at Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore Sydnee Jacques recorded a first-place mark and personal best to lead the Owls at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday. Jacques placed first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.01m and earned a personal-best 100m hurdles time of 14.96 seconds.

Another first-place finish was earned by Temple's 4x100m relay team of senior Hollis Coleman, juniors Demeshia Davis and Courtney Mitchell, and sophomore Bionca St. Fleur with a time of 49.16 seconds. 

In the 100m hurdles, sophomore Simone Brownlee finished in 15.86 seconds to place fifth. Freshman Attallah Goodman and senior Kaitlyn McSurdy placed fifth (1:08.54) and sixth (1:08.74), respectively, in the 400m hurdles. 

Mitchell placed fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.75 seconds. Junior Imani Shell finished the 200m dash in 26.77 seconds, placing ninth. In the 400m dash, Davis placed fifth (59.31) and sophomore Kenya Gaston placed seventh (1:00.15). 

In the long jump, senior Kiersten LaRoche recorded a ninth-place mark of 4.79m and St. Fleur placed tenth with a distance of 4.78m.

The Owls will travel to Williamsburg, Va. next weekend, April 3-4, to compete in the 50th Annual Colonial Relays at the College of William & Mary.
